The short version: Symetri does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, patient photos, or usage information. Everything happens on your device. We have no servers that receive your data.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Symetri ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Symetri iOS application. Symetri is operated as a standalone, on-device application with no backend infrastructure.
By downloading and using the App, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Symetri does not collect any of the following, at any time, under any circumstances:
- Patient photographs or before & after images
- Personal identifiable information (names, email addresses, phone numbers)
- Location data or device identifiers
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostics sent to our servers
- Health or medical information
- Financial information
- Device contacts, calendars, or other app data
- Biometric data of any kind
3. On-Device Processing
All features of Symetri — including AI face alignment, background removal, image filtering, eye blur, and photo editing — run entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device frameworks (Vision, Core Image, AVFoundation). No image data, facial landmark data, or processing results are transmitted to any external server.
When you use Face Alignment, the App uses Apple's Vision framework to detect facial landmarks. This processing occurs locally on your device. The landmark data is used only to align your photos within the App and is never stored persistently or transmitted externally.
4. Local Data Storage
All patient cases, photos, and App settings are stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage mechanisms (the iOS file system and UserDefaults). This data:
- Remains entirely on your iPhone
- Is subject to your device's own security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
- May be included in encrypted iOS device backups if you have iCloud Backup enabled — this is controlled entirely by iOS and Apple, not by Symetri
- Is permanently deleted when you delete the App from your device
We recommend reviewing Apple's iCloud privacy policies if you use iCloud Backup, as backed-up data is subject to Apple's terms and privacy policy.
5. No Account Required
Symetri does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or authenticate with any online service. There is no user database, no cloud login, and no way to associate any data with your identity from our side.
6. No Third-Party Analytics or SDKs
The App does not contain any third-party analytics libraries, advertising SDKs, tracking frameworks, or crash reporting tools. We do not use:
- Google Analytics or Firebase
- Facebook SDK or Meta Pixel
- Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar tools
- Sentry, Crashlytics, or remote crash reporting
- Any advertising networks
7. Photo Library Access
The App requests access to your device's photo library solely to allow you to import photos for comparison. Symetri reads photos you explicitly select — it does not scan, index, or process your full photo library automatically. Photos you import are processed locally and used only for the editing and export functions within the App.
You can revoke photo library access at any time via iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos > Symetri.
8. Exported Content
When you export an image or video from Symetri (to your camera roll, via AirDrop, or through iOS's share sheet), that content is transferred to the destination you choose. Symetri has no visibility into where you send exported content. You are responsible for handling exported patient images in accordance with applicable privacy and healthcare regulations in your jurisdiction (e.g., HIPAA in the US, GDPR in the EU).
9. Children's Privacy
Symetri is designed for use by healthcare and aesthetic professionals and is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 18.
10. Healthcare Compliance
While Symetri's architecture is designed to support privacy-conscious use in clinical settings (no cloud uploads, no data collection, on-device only), it is your responsibility as a practitioner to ensure your use of the App complies with applicable patient privacy laws and regulations in your jurisdiction, including but not limited to HIPAA (United States), GDPR (European Union), and equivalent laws elsewhere.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of those changes. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
